CASPERS - After School Club
Our After School club was established in September 2014 following the growing need for 'after school care' for working families and others. Over the last year or so our numbers have grown and we now regularly have 90 children attend the club each week. Originally just named after school club we felt that it needed a better name and so last year we ran a competition for children and families that had used the ASC facility to submit some ideas. We had some great ideas put forward and these were judged and voted on by the School Council and almost unanimously the name Caspers was chosen. Caspers stands for : Crockenhill after school play eat relax socialise , and sums up exactly what caspers is all about. Caspers runs term time only from 3:15 - 5:30pm each day. You can pick your child/ren up any time from 5pm onwards. There is a fee for late pick-ups and these fees can be viewed in our t&c's. The cost per session is £6 per child, and this includes a fruit snack and a meal. You can book your child/ren into caspers by completing the booking form and submitting it with payment to Mrs Bradley, Caspers Manager. we accept cash, cheques and child care vouchers. We aslo have a few places held back each day for on-the-day bookings, these sessions are £7 per child. All our t&C's can be found on our booking forms.
Year 6 Leavers tea
At Caspers we said a fond farewell to our year 6's by inviting them to a special tea. They were treated to a scrumptious array of cakes and sandwhiches by the Caspers team, who waited on them too! It was a very special afternoon and a chance for us to say a proper 'Goodbye' to them all. Some of these year 6's had been coming to Caspers from day 1, so it really was an emotional farewell. We wish all year 6 the very best as they start a new chapter of their lives at Secondary School, but we especially wish those year 6's that attended Caspers the very best of luck , we shall miss you all very much. Please do come back to visit us very soon.
Kind Donation from local resident
This enormous watermelon was kindly donated to Caspers by a local resident Mrs Fry. The children thoroughly enjoyed it ,and we would all like to say a very big thank you for this kind donation. please browse Latest News on the main school website page for some more photos.
The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations
Friday 10th June saw the whole school celebrating the Queens 90th birthday with a celebration picnic in the school playground. At Caspers the celebrations did not end! Parents were invited to come and join the children for afternoon cake and juice, all prepared and served by the children. It was a lovely day and we would like to thank parents for coming along and joining in our celebrations. Thank you too to the children for their hard work.
WEEKLY THEMES - Once the children have come over to us from their classes and have been registered, then there is time to have a fruit snack & a drink. Once the children have re-fuelled then there is an opportunity to play games, including board games, lego, dressing up, puzzles or they can do some colouring in. we also have craft most days. The children are also given the opportunity to play outside weather permitting and we have a range of toys for outside play. There is also the opportunity for the children to do their homework if they want to, or read to one of the Caspers staff. We also have Boffle who is our Caspers dog and loves to be read to, the children can earn themselves a Caspers sticker if they read to Boffle. Each week we have a weekly theme and our craft is usually based around our themes. We try where possible to follow the school curriculum. So for example when the classes are studying WWII , we will base our theme that week also on WWII. During the Summer we base some of themes outside, so for example we have a Wimbledon week where we get the tennis rackets out & encourage the children to play tennis, and we finish off our day with strawberries and cream!
The themes for each term can be viewed and downloaded from this site.
